No-CORROSION

This aspect still poses a great challenge as it is one of the main objectives of the sector. Conventional structures have problems of durability as the rolling material is subject to a wide and varied range of working environments: saline, chemical, etc.

Currently structures undergo anti-corrosion treatment by immersion (cataphoresis, etc.), which is too costly and often impossible due to the size of the structures involved.

SAFETY

The incorporation of composite materials by means of assembling continuous frames has the purpose of creating continuous unions, as opposed to traditional welded unions, where very often they do not have this characteristic as they are end joints, etc. Thanks to this a greater integration in the superstructure is achieved.

Another advantage is the substantial reduction of weight, lowering the centre of gravity of the vehicle and thus achieving greater stability.

ACOUSTIC AND VIBRATION INSULATION

The incorporation of composites will mean greater passenger comfort, as these materials give better results than the requirements of the regulations, and at the same time, there is a substantially greater absorption of vibrations. This means that the vehicles are more comfortable and pleasanter for passengers.

WEIGHT REDUCTION

This is very important in aspects such as energy saving, as the weight/power ratio is optimised, making it very attractive for transport companies and, logically, for the world's fuel reserves. A lighter vehicle can also bear a greater maximum weight (passengers, luggage, etc.). A reduction of weight will also lead to less tyre wear and is thus another saving for the Transport Operator.

As has been mentioned above, the reduction of weight achieved by using composites lowers the centre of gravity of the vehicle, thus increasing safety and stability.

SOCIAL IMPACT

The introduction of composite materials in the vehicle's structure is not limited to coaches, but also includes trolleybuses, trams, etc., which from an ecological point of view, is a very important advance. All of this, added to the improvements in sound levels, creates a better quality of life.
